Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has approved a new symbol for the Saudi riyal, marking a historic milestone in enhancing the currency’s identity and global recognition. This move is set to reinforce the kingdom’s economic presence both locally and internationally.

Developed to the highest technical standards, the new symbol is inspired by Arabic calligraphy, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage while embodying both modernity and tradition. The design prominently features the name of the national currency, Riyal, signifying its deep-rooted history and evolving role in the global financial landscape.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the new symbol will be integrated into all financial and commercial transactions, streamlining the way the Saudi riyal is referenced in economic contexts worldwide. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to diversify the economy and strengthen its position in global markets.

The Saudi Central Bank has also released official guidelines outlining the use of the symbol, ensuring its seamless adoption across various sectors.
