Sonoshee Cloud is also a captivating performer, combining feistiness, charm, and boundless energy. This unique blend invites audiences on a musical journey crafted by the distinctive Sonoshee Cloud. -What was your first interaction with music? My first interaction with music was at home, we had a radio where I’d put my father’s CDs, and the genres would range from old-school hip-hop to French music to Rai Music. Later on, when I had internet at home, I was so in love with music that it was the only thing I was looking for on YouTube. But this time I had the visual aspect of it as well, I remember I would browse through the internet and look for more music videos and I was amazed and that’s how I fell in love with music and knew I wanted to become an artist as well. My father used to play 2pac, Lil Wayne, Akon, and 50 Cent around me, which greatly inspired me. -How did you come to develop your style? My style was always a mix of everything I loved since I was a child, meaning video games such as Zelda, Mario, League of Legends, etc.… as well as anime and crazy fashion. I love incorporating these different aspects into my music to make it as “Sonoshee” as possible. -Which artists inspire you the most? I don’t have one specific artist that inspired me, I can be inspired by anything when it comes to music. I could have a situation going on in my life and I’d be inspired to make a song about it in the same second! Since I’m extremely versatile, I take a bit of inspiration from everywhere and try to be original. I’m more inspired by songs from a specific genre rather than the artist itself. XXXtentacion, Playboi Carti, and Trippie Redd were three notable artists who influenced me when I first started sharing my songs in 2016 on SoundCloud. -Being that you are an Arab artist who is inspired by the cloud rap movement, do you see yourself using elements from both cultures to create something new? Of course! I love to mix different elements in my music, I’ve recently started making Arabic songs to embrace my culture and heritage so that’s something I’ll drop soon. I love to show off my versatility through different languages and cultures since I’m mixed, you can see for instance my track “No Hesi” has French bars as well. -How has your experience been with Dubai’s creative/music scene so far? My experience with the Dubai music scene is super eventful and hectic and I ABSOLUTELY love that because I love keeping myself busy and progressing. So, Dubai life suits me from that aspect since there are always events and new things popping up. I also love the fact that there are a lot of people from all around the world coming here. I just wish the music industry would be more well-equipped and developed for artists like me and all the other talented rappers from The UAE to allow them to reach a larger audience. -Who are 5 people you aspire to collaborate with? When it comes to mainstream artists, I’d love to work with Trippie Redd, Playboi Carti, Doja Cat, Kanye West, Bladee, and Gazo. -What song of yours is your favorite so far and why? I have 2-3 favorite songs depending on the mood and all of them have not yet been released because I want to drop them under the perfect condition. But I'll give you a hint of what genre they are: One is Plug Rap, Rap, and one Amapiano. To be honest, it’s hard to pick one because each song is so different from the other. -Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself touring the world, being able to put out big production projects, and being able to make good profit from what I do. “What is the inspiration behind your latest single “Broke”? The idea behind BROKE is to stay true to yourself and that money comes and goes. I’ve been in love with making new wave rap and I played this tune to Seki Suppervillain a while back, he loved it and wanted to work on it immediately. Honestly, teaming up with one of my favorite artists in the UAE was super cool because we have similar styles in music, and our aesthetics match. We decided to work on a music video with our team after that and it was super smooth and fun, it barely felt like work because that’s what I’m passionate about, we all knew exactly what to do and what to expect. I think our original style was beautifully portrayed in our latest music video which will be released in a few days. I’m super excited because this song has hints of everything that inspires me. What do you have in store for the rest of this year? After I dropped two songs this month, I’m focused on planning my next drop, the BROKE music video. While also making new music and exploring new genres and sounds. It's going to be very interesting when everything aligns. I’m also aligning my shows for this winter to be able to perform these new songs live when the season takes off again, but in the meantime, you can also catch me hosting events weekly around Dubai since MCing has been something I started loving. - A Sterling Silver Success: The Story of Chrome Heart's Rise to Fashion Fame
Founded by Richard Stark, Chrome Hearts has long been one of fashion's best-kept secrets. However, its popularity has surged in recent years. Starting in the 1980's, Chrome Hearts began as Stark's passion project, influenced by LA's biker culture. Initially crafting custom leather pieces and silver accessories, Stark’s unique designs quickly gained attention. The brand's distinctive aesthetic, intricate silver work, and bold leather goods cultivated a cult following. Despite its underground beginnings, Chrome Hearts expanded globally, opening boutiques and collaborating with top designers and celebrities. The brand's commitment to craftsmanship and exclusivity remains unchanged, with each piece handcrafted in its Hollywood factory. Today, Chrome Hearts is celebrated worldwide, its iconic designs appearing on everything from clothing to eyewear. The brand's journey from niche biker brand to fashion powerhouse highlights its enduring appeal and quality. Now is the perfect time to explore the fascinating history of Chrome Hearts and how it became the influential brand it is today. In the late 1980s, Richard Stark, a premium leather dealer in Los Angeles, teamed up with his friend John Bowman, a leather manufacturer, both deeply embedded in motorcycle culture. Inspired by their passion, they decided to create leather jackets for themselves and their friends. Starting in a garage, they began producing gear, gradually evolving into a small-scale leather manufacturing company. Stark and Bowman were later joined by Leonard Kamhout, a skilled jeweler known for his expertise in sterling silver—a material that would become integral to Chrome Hearts' identity. At this initial stage, they were not yet operating as a formal brand and lacked a distinct name, focusing instead on crafting custom pieces for clients. Everything changed in 1989 when they were approached to design wardrobe pieces for a low-budget comedy horror film titled "Chromeheart." This opportunity sparked the inception of their brand name, Chrome Hearts, which has since become synonymous with their unique style and craftsmanship. Chromehearts was just a working title for the film during the casting stage and it would later be renamed to "Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town". (we know what you are thinking, they nailed it) The film not only inspired their brand name but also presented new opportunities. One of the film's lead actresses was dating Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, who became an immediate fan of Chrome Hearts' designs. Jones commissioned them to create pieces for him, and when he began wearing their creations on stage, the brand gained significant visibility and began to attract a following. The growing demand prompted Stark, Bowman, and Kamhout to establish a proper production facility in Los Angeles, fueled in part by the exposure from Steve Jones. Chrome Hearts quickly gained popularity within the rock and roll community, with early adopters including iconic musicians like Lenny Kravitz, Motley Crue, and Guns N' Roses. As legendary as these customers were, perhaps none were as pivotal as Lori Lynn. She was working as an art director when she crossed paths with Richard at a fish market in Malibu. Their collaboration on a swimwear line she was developing quickly evolved, and within a few months, they were happily married. Lori Lynn's entry into Chrome Hearts marked a significant turning point for the brand. She assumed roles in marketing, and photography, and spearheaded the introduction of ready-to-wear collections. Her efforts expanded Chrome Hearts' appeal to a broader audience, marking a transformative period for the brand. This marked the beginning of Chrome Hearts as we recognize it today. Originally founded by Richard Stark, John Bowman, and Leonard Kamut, the brand was gaining momentum. However, for reasons that remain unclear, the trio decided to part ways in 1991, with Richard Stark acquiring their shares and becoming the sole owner. Richard had always been the driving force behind Chrome Hearts, and this change allowed him greater freedom to shape the brand according to his vision. And that's exactly what he did. From 1991 onward, Chrome Hearts persisted in crafting leather goods and sterling silver jewelry. Leveraging his background as a high-end carpenter, Stark ventured into furniture and home goods, broadening the brand's offerings. Meanwhile, Lori Lynn remained at the helm, overseeing the design of garments, accessories, and Chrome Hearts magazine. We highly recommend checking out some of the Chrome Hearts magazines because Lori Lynn's photography skillfully captures the essence of the Chrome Hearts vibe. At this stage, Chrome Hearts was truly taking form, primarily catering to the grungy rock and roll biker demographic, a niche it continues to serve today. Nevertheless, Chrome Hearts has since gained widespread recognition beyond its original audience. The transition from cult favorite to world-famous for Chrome Hearts began when Richard Stark brought a motorcycle jacket and pair of chaps to Tommy Perse, founder and creative director of the iconic LA-based boutique Maxfield, in 1991. Perse liked Chrome Hearts enough to stock some of their pieces at Maxfield, a crucial move because Maxfield is open to the general public and boasts a clientele that includes celebrities beyond just rock and roll stars. This exposure at Maxfield helped Chrome Hearts gain broader visibility and appeal. This led to a significant surge in popularity, with Chrome Hearts soon being stocked at prestigious locations like Bergdorf Goodman and featured in Vogue campaigns. Chrome Hearts was now gaining mainstream recognition and on the verge of another major breakthrough. In 1992, Richard Stark received a phone call from the Council of Fashion Designers of America informing him that he had won the award for Best Accessories Designer. For anyone familiar with American fashion, winning a CFDA prize is a highly esteemed honor. However, Richard Stark doesn't identify himself as a fashion designer; he sees himself more as a craftsman. So, when he received the call, he didn't recognize the CFDA and mistook it for a telemarketing call. Richard amusingly recalls that the CFDA asked him to choose a celebrity to present the award to him. He had someone specific in mind but refused to disclose the name to the CFDA. And he told them that if they didn't trust him, they should hire their own backup. As we now know, Richard picked pop icon Cher to present the award, saying, "I think she's extremely talented." Richard Stark, despite his initial indifference towards the award, now acknowledges its pivotal role in catapulting Chrome Hearts into the spotlight. Winning the CFDA prize brought significant attention to the brand, attracting new admirers including influential designers like Rei Kawakubo, the visionary behind Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market. With Kawakubo's support, Chrome Hearts successfully entered the Japanese fashion market, igniting widespread popularity across Asia and paving the way for further growth. Simultaneously, Chrome Hearts was booming in America, with strong sales at Maxfield prompting Tommy Perse to assist the Starks in opening their own boutique nearby. Their expansion continued with the launch of a New York City store in 1996 and a Tokyo location in 1999. Despite rapid growth and increasing popularity, Chrome Hearts maintained its unique allure and craftsmanship. Richard and Lori Lynn Stark have always maintained a tight grip on Chrome Hearts, ensuring that their design ethos remains uncompromised. Unlike many fashion houses, they have steadfastly avoided the pressure to conform to seasonal collections and have been selective about their collaborations, working only with those they truly admire. This steadfast approach has kept Chrome Hearts true to its roots over the past three decades. This consistency, I believe, is a key factor in its enduring success. Few brands have achieved such a distinct design identity, centered around leather, silver, stylized crosses, and an old English font. This formula has not only defined Chrome Hearts but has also contributed to its iconic status in the fashion world. Having a distinctive design language is crucial for a brand like Chrome Hearts. It sets them apart from countless other brands inspired by grunge aesthetics. Given their extensive custom work, signature design elements are essential for ensuring their creations are instantly recognizable. Chrome Hearts has indeed mastered its own unique style, which makes their collaborations particularly intriguing. Richard Stark himself prefers not to use the term "collaboration" in the conventional sense. For him, these projects are opportunities to collaborate with individuals he genuinely respects and wants to work with, on projects that truly inspire him. In recent years, the term "collaboration" has taken on a commercialized meaning that doesn't fully align with Chrome Hearts' authentic approach. So for this editorial, let's adopt Richard Stark's perspective on collaborations. Beyond the spontaneous partnerships with iconic rock bands mentioned earlier, one of Chrome Hearts' earliest significant collaborations occurred with the Rolling Stones in 2002. Despite their deep ties to the rock and roll scene by then, the Starks had surprisingly never met any members of the Rolling Stones when they agreed to create tour gear for the band. This collaboration included a diamond-studded belt shaped like the band's iconic logo, specifically crafted for Mick Jagger. In 2004, Chrome Hearts expanded its presence in the fashion industry by teaming up with Yves Saint Laurent to launch TV T-shirts. This marked a notable step beyond their rock and roll roots. Subsequently, they collaborated with Comme des Garçons in 2007 and Rick Owens in 2010. In 2014, their collaborations extended to Gareth Pugh and Carson McColl, followed by a partnership with Virgil Abloh's Off-White in 2015. Richard Stark and Virgil Abloh have since developed a close working relationship, collaborating on several projects. It's fascinating how Chrome Hearts has collaborated with major players in luxury fashion, dark fashion, and streetwear, solidifying its presence across diverse styles. They've also partnered with longtime customer and family friend Bella Hadid on multiple occasions. These collaborations, alongside their extensive custom work for countless celebrities, contribute to the brand's ongoing expansion. Looking ahead, Richard and Lori Lynn Stark are strategically positioning Chrome Hearts for long-term success. Chrome Hearts operates out of a 250,000 sqft headquarters spanning three blocks in Hollywood. This expansive space houses a fully equipped furniture workshop, gold and silversmithing stations, and printing facilities—essentially everything needed for in-house production. Unlike many brands that outsource production, Chrome Hearts maintains full control over its manufacturing process, showcasing its commitment to quality and craftsmanship. In a strategic move in 2014, Starks acquired a minority stake in Elder Statesman, a luxury cashmere knitwear label that had previously won the prestigious 2012 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund award. Again, this underscores the Starks' ongoing commitment to expanding and evolving their business. A crucial aspect of Chrome Hearts' future is its identity as a family business. Led by husband-and-wife Richard and Lori Lynn Stark, the company now sees their three children actively participating. Alongside Richard and Lori Lynn are their son, Christian Stark, and daughters Frankie Bell Stark and Jessie Jo Stark. As the oldest, Jessie Jo has significantly shaped Chrome Hearts' current popularity. Serving as the vice president, she has been instrumental in steering the brand's creative vision, enhancing its social media influence, and forging partnerships, including with her close friend Bella Hadid. Beyond her business acumen and fashion sense, Jessie Jo is also a talented singer and songwriter, making her work worth exploring. Additionally, it was Jessie Jo who introduced her former boyfriend, Matt Di Giacomo, to the brand. If you're familiar with Chrome Hearts, you'll likely know him as Matty Boy, and you've probably come across some of his designs. As the current artistic director, he has brought a distinctive touch to Chrome Hearts' clothing line, which has resonated strongly, especially with streetwear enthusiasts. Beyond Matty Boy's contributions, Christian and Frankie Bell, the twins, are also making their marks in the fashion world. Christian manages an environmentally conscious brand called Thrilltrip, while Frankie Bell heads a swimwear line known as Dipped in Blue. These ventures highlight their innovative approach to fashion, and you can explore their projects through the links provided in the description. Overall, it's fascinating to see the entire Stark family deeply involved in steering Chrome Hearts, underscoring their commitment to its enduring presence. With style ingrained in their family dynamic, Chrome Hearts seems poised for a lasting legacy. It is also important to emphasize that Chrome Hearts stands out uniquely in the fashion landscape—it's more than just a fashion brand; it embodies a lifestyle. The Starks' mastery of design and craftsmanship extends across all endeavors. Remarkably, Chrome Hearts has achieved all this without a major e-commerce presence, demonstrating the strength of its dedicated following. At a time when many brands are scaling back physical stores, Chrome Hearts continues to expand year after year. - 4 Things Every Content Creator Can Learn from Reese Witherspoon's $900 Million Payday
Reese Witherspoon became the richest actress in the world after selling her media company, Hello Sunshine, for $900 million to a new media firm backed by former Disney execs. Her journey began with a book club, where she engaged fans in discussions about various books. This community grew to millions, and Witherspoon started partnering with authors to feature their books, eventually co-owning many successful titles. She then used data to turn the most popular books into TV shows and movies, like *The Last Thing You Told Me* and *Your Place or Mine*. This model is a great example for creators and influencers on how to expand their brand beyond their original niche. If you have a following, here are four steps to follow Reese Witherspoon's path to success. Leverage Your Side Interests Any hobby or passion outside of your main profession can help you connect with your audience on a deeper level. Many of them might share the same interests, allowing you to build a community where you can exchange ideas. This creates a platform where brands in that space will want to do business with you, giving them access to your engaged audience while bringing you value in return. Build an Ecosystem around your likeness Building an ecosystem around your personal brand is a powerful way to monetize your community. By expanding beyond your core content or profession and tapping into related interests, you can create a network of products, services, or partnerships that align with your image. Whether it's launching a brand, collaborating with other creators, or offering exclusive experiences, this ecosystem keeps your audience engaged and opens up multiple revenue streams, all while staying true to your values and identity. A/B Split Test A/B split testing can help you monetize a community by experimenting with different content, offers, or products to see what resonates best. Just like Reese Witherspoon analyzed her book club's performance to turn popular reads into successful shows or films, you can test various approaches within your community. By tracking the results, you’ll learn what engages your audience most, allowing you to tailor offerings that can attract brand partnerships or sales, maximizing your revenue potential. Know Your Audience Like the Back of Your Hand Knowing your audience inside and out is key to monetizing a community, just like Reese Witherspoon did with her book club. By understanding their preferences, interests, and behavior, you can curate content, products, or services that truly resonate with them. This deep connection allows you to create valuable partnerships, tailor offers, and deliver experiences that engage your audience, increasing the potential for revenue while keeping them loyal and invested. - Qatar’s Award-winner Filmmaker Abdulrahman Al-mana Talks the 2022 World Cup, Winning International Awards and More
Abdulrahman Al-Mana, an award-winning Qatari filmmaker, was a key organizer for both the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup. He earned recognition as one of the Best Three Directors at the Greece Athena Film Festival. Al-Mana graduated with honors in Film and TV Production from Keele University, UK, through a country-sponsored scholarship supporting Qatar’s Vision 2030 to localize film production. His journey began in his youth, with a love for movies and storytelling. In this interview, he shares his experiences from the World Cup, his favorite award, and his vision for elevating Arab cinema and more. Can you tell us about your first experience with film? When did you realize that filmmaking was your true passion? Growing up I have always been fascinated by film. Movies were my window to discover people’s cultures and environments, it was my window to the world in general. I have been mostly reading stories and watching visual stories. I was passionate about how Movies and series stories bloomed into different trajectories from the beginning to the end. This passion has triggered me to discover more about scriptwriting. Meanwhile, filmmaking was another story as I was curious about, how the film itself was produced and how it was made. When I saw filmmakers making films independently, I followed the process from creating stories and characters to bringing life into them into a film. Since the moment I produced my first short film, I enjoyed and wanted to make more creative stories. With Qatar and other nations in the region aiming to diversify their economies and expand non-oil industries, how do you see the role of film contributing to this transformation? There is a significant and noticeable development and improvement in the film industry in Qatar and people generally are very optimistic about it. His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani the Emir of Qatar has announced that the production will be reliant entirely on local production in terms of economic, social, environmental, film, and media industries as part of “Qatar Vision 2030”. Therefore, my main motivation not only in filmmaking but in my whole career in general is to be part of “Qatar Vision 2030” and build a bright future for Doha. In your view, what key developments or changes are necessary for Arab cinema to reach the next level on the global stage? Filmmaking offers a huge opportunity to create awareness and really touch people. However, it is one of the dynamic and creative processes that combine scriptwriting, Pre-production, production, post-production, and marketing. In my opinion, the key to development is to spread the film culture more widely through the regain، could be through courses, workshops, and film festivals, or even universities. Your films have received numerous awards at prestigious international film festivals. Is there one particular award that holds special significance for you, and why? I’m glad and proud to be among the first Qatari graduates in film production through a scholarship sponsored by the country. Also, my films have been screened and awarded in international global film festivals, including the Dubai Film Festival Manchester Film Festival, and the Swedish International Film Festival. However, my recent achievement was receiving the award of Best Three Directors with honors mention, out of 400 projects and directors worldwide at the Athena Film Festival. This achievement has generated a lot of positive impact in the Middle East, considered to be one of the first Middle Easterners to achieve it. Reflecting on your experience with the 2022 World Cup, what stands out as your most memorable moment during the event's organization? World Cup Qatar 2022 has shown a significant positive impact on the region and its people. I was officially one of the organizers and part of the media team at the World Cup event. This role was a great opportunity to meet the football fans and hear their positive thoughts. All the fans were amazed at the stadiums, the tourist locations, and the smooth transportation. However, being one of the official organizers this role helped me to improve my management skills and organizing events. I can tell surely it was one of the best experiences I had. Of all the films you’ve directed, which one holds a special place in your heart, and why? I have worked on many films and projects, but “Commitment is an Act not a Word” is my favorite project so far, due to the positive reactions from people and the media in general, and the distinctive artistic path that contributed to enhancing understanding and health awareness among the public. Looking back on your journey as a filmmaker, what is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned along the way? The main lesson I have learned not only in my filmmaking career but also in my life, in general, is to make your ambitions always high and far. When you believe ambitions are limitless, you will reach places you never thought you would reach. This lesson helped me to be the person I’m proud of today. - How Saudi Arabia is Investing Billions to Revive the Sport of Boxing
Read More: Unique Saudi Creatives That Deserve the Spotlight before the end of the year Saudi Arabia is making a major impact in the world of sports and entertainment, with its latest focus on world-class boxing. According to Reuters, The Kingdom's Public Investment Fund (PIF) is currently in discussions with various boxing stakeholders to establish a global boxing league that could reshape the sport’s competitive structure. This ambitious plan, led by Turki bin Abdulmohsen Alalsheikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, is part of Saudi Arabia's larger strategy to transform the economics and future of boxing. A key step in this direction was seen during 'Riyadh Season 2023,' a massive six-month festival where the Kingdom successfully hosted high-profile boxing events, further solidifying its growing influence on the global sports stage. Turki Alalsheikh has been a driving force behind Saudi Arabia's ambitious boxing plans, bringing top fighters like Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Francis Ngannou to Saudi Arabia. He has overseen some of the sport's most iconic events, including the ‘Battle of the Baddest,’ ‘Day of Reckoning,’ and ‘Ring of Fire.’ Under his leadership, boxing in Saudi Arabia has reached new heights, with grand promotional shows that rival Hollywood productions, huge winning bonuses, and a streamlined approach to organizing major fights. Alalsheikh has gained a reputation for cutting through the red tape that often bogs down boxing negotiations, making matches happen quickly and efficiently. With his vision and decisive leadership, he's the ideal figure to spearhead Saudi Arabia's billion-dollar investment in reshaping the global boxing landscape. Whether you're a fan of the growing boxing scene in Saudi Arabia or not, the kingdom's investment has undeniably transformed the sport. Saudi Arabia’s ambitious and costly plan aims to reshape the economics, structure, and future of boxing. Under this proposal, around 200 of the world’s top male boxers would be signed and divided into 12 weight classes, forming what would essentially be a global boxing league. This groundbreaking initiative marks a new era for the sport, positioning Saudi Arabia as a central player in its evolution. Each weight class would consist of around 15 fighters, ensuring top talents regularly face off in highly anticipated matches. This move aims to streamline the often chaotic world of boxing, replacing the fragmented system of rival promoters and competing sanctioning bodies. By consolidating the sport under a single entity, the plan would not only simplify boxing's structure but also create a powerhouse with the resources and talent to stage high-profile events worldwide, revolutionizing how the sport is organized and promoted. Unlike many other sports Saudi Arabia is disrupting, professional boxing is especially ripe for reinvention. The sport has lost much of its appeal over the years, largely due to a convoluted system of rival promoters and sanctioning bodies, each organizing their own fights and awarding their own titles. This fragmented structure often prevents the top fighters from facing off, leaving fans to navigate a confusing landscape with multiple "champions" in the same weight class. Saudi Arabia’s approach could streamline the system, reviving boxing's prestige and excitement. The proposed Saudi-backed boxing series would operate under a unified brand, much like the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which has steadily gained popularity while boxing has waned globally. In this model, boxers would be ranked within weight divisions, with a separate ranking for the best "pound-for-pound" fighters, mirroring the UFC's structure. Fighters would have the opportunity to climb the rankings, but underperformers could be eliminated from the series, making way for fresh talent, and creating a more dynamic and competitive environment. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), a massive sovereign wealth vehicle, is set to finance this transformative boxing project, with reports suggesting an initial investment of up to $2 billion. The PIF is currently in the final stages of negotiations to disperse these funds. Multiple consultancy firms, including Boston Consulting Group, have been instrumental in shaping the proposal. This project is part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to dominate the global sports industry, following significant investments in initiatives like the LIV Golf series and the acquisition of top European soccer stars. Through these efforts, the PIF has injected substantial capital into clubs, teams, events, and sporting organizations, further establishing Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in international sports.
